Founded in 2023 by Kathryn Anchondo, M.Ed., LPC, The Counseling Classroom offers a unique blend of child therapy, teen counseling, and family support in the heart of Houston, Texas. Our space is designed for learning, connection, and growth—for kids to be themselves and for families to feel hopeful again.

Katy Anchondo, LPC
Former Educator Turned Child & Adolescent Therapist in Houston, TX
If you’re searching for a compassionate, experienced therapist who truly understands the world of children and teens, you’re in the right place. Katy Anchondo is a licensed child and adolescent therapist specializing in supporting school-aged children, preteens, and their families through life’s emotional and behavioral challenges.
Before becoming a therapist, Katy spent years as an educator in the classroom. This unique background gives her deep insight into how children learn, communicate, and cope—both at home and at school. She speaks the language of kids and teens, helping them feel seen, heard, and safe.
Christina Hoyt, M. Ed
Certified Teacher & Academic Coach Specializing in Reading, Math, and Dyslexia Support
With over 12 years of classroom experience, Christina is a highly qualified academic coach and tutor with a passion for helping students build confidence and master essential skills in reading, writing, and math. She holds a Master’s degree in the Art of Teaching, with a focus in Special Education and Psychology, and is a certified teacher with specialized training in structured literacy, multisensory reading programs, and research-based interventions for dyslexia.
She understands that every child learns differently and tailors her sessions to meet each student’s unique needs using evidence-based techniques that actually work.


Sarah Duran, LPC-Associate

Child and Family Therapist Specializing in Emotional & Behavioral Support
Sarah is a licensed professional counselor who works with children, adolescents, and families to navigate big emotions, behavioral challenges, and school-related stress. With a warm, playful, and compassionate approach, she uses child-centered therapy techniques, including play and creative expression, to help kids feel safe, seen, and supported.
Sarah specializes in issues like anxiety, emotional regulation, life transitions, and parent-child connection. She partners closely with caregivers to create lasting change at home and in the classroom—always grounded in trust, connection, and a deep respect for each child’s unique story.
